Higgins Independent School
Higgins ISD staff is very excited and optimistic about the future of our school. We are moving in a positive direction. There have been several changes made to Higgins ISD to address the areas in which improvement is needed.
Higgins ISD is in the top 25 percent of schools across Texas that have similar demographics in the percentage of students in grades 3 through 8 that achieved meets grade level or above in both Reading and Math. Because of this achievement, Higgins ISD earned a Distinction Designation in Post-Secondary Readiness.
Attendance Rating is a huge factor in determining a school rating. The state minimum target score was a 96.7, and Higgins ISD received a score of 94.9. This affects not only student learning and success, but it has a significant impact on the rating Higgins ISD receives from TEA. Mrs. Waite and I have worked with the Site-Based Committee to update our Attendance Policy and Procedures. We will be monitoring attendance closely and communicating with parents frequently.
Higgins ISD also earned a Distinction Designation in ELA due to scoring in the top 25 percent of the comparison group in English II and in Dual Credit completion. The Distinction Designations earned are a testimony to the hard work and dedication of our students and staff.
